Intergenerational Workshop
In the framework of the €AT grpup exhibition, and inspired by the small object-artwork Common Carrier Case (x votive / clarity cloud) mini (2025) by artist Mariechen Danz
From ancient times to the present day, symbols representing hands have carried powerful meanings and served as special tools of communication. Through crafting techniques, participants of all ages are invited to cut and shape a small metal hand. In the context of the common work, a relationship between symbol, material and makers evolves — allowing each object to take on its own creative and meaningful form.
Birgit Thalau has been making jewellery since 1996. Her practice explores both the material and immaterial meanings of (small) objects, as well as their ability to bridge our inner emotional world with the outer, social world that surrounds us.
