La Floresta
My sensory experiences and relationship with nature are the starting point and inspiration for the sound instruments of La Floresta, in which I explore the juxtaposition between nature and technology. Technology is used as a tool to reinforce and make natural sounds tangible. How do we experience and relate to nature and sound in this globalised technological age? – Hans Beckers
Sound is a crucial and constant element in the work of Hans Beckers (born 1986 in Antwerp). In his performances and installations, the musician tries to find a balance between music, sound art and visual arts. Most of his installations can be seen as self-made instruments with all kinds of found objects. In his performances, he relies on his compositions as well as on his sense of improvisation, amplifying normally inaudible sounds with a magnetic field.
Hans Beckers is also a visual artist, making drawings, prints and scores for theatre and film. His work has been shown in various festivals and art centres, including Bozar in Brussels, Muhka in Antwerp, Opéra de Lille, Concertgebouw in Bruges, Konserthus in Stavangar, and Casa Modernista in São Paulo.
