Le livre d'image

Artist(s)
Jean-Luc Godard

VENUE: Ciné Utopia, 16, avenue de la Faïencerie, L-1510 Luxembourg

Invited as part of the "Cartes blanches et collaborations artistiques" series of the Luxembourg City Film Festival 2023, Casino Luxembourg proposes, in association with the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, Jean-Luc Godard's Le livre d'image (The Image Book), an experimental film-collage presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018, which earned the Swiss director a "special" and controversial Palme d'Or.

It is the work of a filmmaker as researcher, tinkerer, painter and poet, who shows us a "century ending in the next", exploring the great facts of human history: war, the law, the other, elsewhere, the couple, the impossible innocence, language, love.

Excerpts from films, photos, paintings or drawings: Godard composes a dazzling syncopation of sequences, the surge of which evokes the violence of the flows of our contemporary screens, brought to a level of incandescence rarely reached.
