In the framework of the Black Air exhibition
Delve into the art of subtle sounds in this auditory workshop, inspired by Aldo Tambellini’s Black Air. Using recording tools, participants will capture delicate, calm and intimate sounds – like the rustling of fabric, whispered words, ASMR, and ambient textures – to create a layered “sound poem” that embodies shadow and silence. Through careful attention to these quiet moments, participants will uncover how sound can evoke presence in the absence of overt noise.
Karma Catena is a cultural analysis scholar, passionate musician, and overall music enthusiast. Leading her musical project C’est Karma over the past six years the 22-year-old has gathered a rich expertise in music-making and listening practice. In 2024 she graduated in Literary and Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam, where she put focus on researching connections between electronic music, sound synthesis and the (de-)construction of gender within the post-modern social, cultural, and political frame. She thus always seeks to find cutting-edge practices through which she can connect her academic curiosity with music making processes.
