Artist residency at Est-Nord-Est, Quebec (April–May 2026)

ENE

The two residency spaces Est-Nord-Est in Quebec, Canada, and Casino Display in Luxembourg

particularly focus on the art in the making—progress, creation, and experimentation.

We are very pleased to announce the launch of a cross-residency program between Quebec and Luxembourg. This project comes to life thanks to the close collaboration and support of Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg and the Ministry of Culture and Communications of Quebec, with the aim of fostering mobility, connection and exchange between the respective artistic scenes.

Est-Nord-Est and Casino Display share similar lines of inquiry around the notion of process, exploring the way we think about and support artists throughout their creative journeys. These involve adopting a critical perspective and examining different approaches to conceiving and analyzing the creative process itself.

One of the key issues of this approach is to consider how artistic practices can break away from an economic model based on the material production of a finished object intended for sale. Thought, movement, and artistic gestures are at the heart of the reflection.

Est-Nord-Est and Casino Display complement each other through their distinctive nature and methods, which contribute to enriching the experiences of artists inresidence.

Located on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, Est-Nord-Est offers a unique setting, where artists benefit from spacious, well-equipped studios and infrastructures. Combining versatility and functionality, encounter and introspection, its spaces are designed to encourage technical experimentation and immersion in the creative process. The on-site team plays an essential role in this support, offering attentive and personalized assistance to artists, both logistically and intellectually.

Casino Display’s mission is to support emerging artists at the beginning of their careers. Situated in the heart of Luxembourg’s old town, just steps from the Grand Ducal Palace, it occupies a building shaped by centuries of renovations and diverse uses. This historical context gives the space a singularity that is especially conducive to exploring material and spatial research. As part of the residency program of Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain, Casino Display offers artists not only an exceptional environment, but also privileged access to a network of experts, events, and resources that promote dialogue and the dissemination of their work.

This complementarity between our two spaces opens up a wider field of exploration, enhancing the diversity of experiences and perspectives. In short, with the creation of a cross-residency program between Est-Nord-Est in Quebec and Casino Display in Luxembourg, we aim to foster exchange, deepen our reflections, and strengthen collaboration between the two organizations and their artistic ecosystems. The project, supported by Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg and the Ministry of Culture and Communications of Quebec, seeks to encourage mobility, dialogue between practices, and to support artists in their research and creative processes.
