Léa Giordano’s project for périscope transforms seeing into an intimate, almost secret act. Through a narrow frame, viewers encounter moving close-ups of gestures, textures, and fleeting presences, gradually unfolding into a reflection on perception and the invisible.

Inspired by cinema’s hidden mechanisms, the work turns looking into sensorial experience, where movement conveys emotion beyond narrative. Concealing and revealing at once, périscope invites slow observation and quiet wonder, blurring the line between image and imagination.

Léa Giordano (she/her) is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Amsterdam and Luxembourg. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in photography, she expanded her practice into experimental filmmaking at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Her work moves fluidly between photography and moving images, using the materiality of analog film as both metaphor and medium to shape narratives. Her practice explores themes of longing, belonging, melancholia, grief, and the passing of time. Through a meditative engagement with nature and the haptic processes of analog film, Léa creates intimate spaces where emotion, memory, and time intertwine.
