Elodie Lesourd – Gracula Religiosa
This publication, published in the context of the solo exhibition The Oracular Illusion at the Casino Luxembourg (26.09.2015 – 03.01.2016), is the first retrospective monograph of the French artist Élodie Lesourd, which traces her work since 1993. The artist’s pictorial work is inspired by the world of rock, whose codes and symbols she manipulates. She became known for her series of "hyperrockalist" paintings in which she depicts rock music-related installations in a hyperrealistic style. By freezing fragments of other artists’ installations, she questions the durability of the work, its documentation, its archive.
