Francisco Camacho – Entkunstung de l’art
Francisco Camacho’s artistic approach revolves around the relationship between politics, society and art. His work, at the crossroads of political action and sociological analysis, consists of interventions and is based on the currents of social philosophy. Francisco Camacho’s project during his artist residency at Casino Luxembourg is entitled Entkunstung de l’art, referring to the concept of “Entkunstung” coined by the German philosopher Theodor W. Adorno, which signifies the loss of the artistic character of the work of art in relation to the cultural industry. According to this concept, the objectual character of a work of art gives way to a new definition of art in society, namely that of an engaged art that seeks to make art itself a solution rather than a commodity.
