Artist(s)
Nataša Grujovic & Steve Moore

Casino Luxembourg and Kulturfabrik are proud to announce their collaboration by supporting the music duo Nataša Grujović and Steve Moore

The musicians Nataša Grujović and Steve Moore will be in residency and perform at both Kulturfabrik and Casino Luxembourg in February and March 2023. The Luxembourgish accordion master and the American trombonist trombone and keyboard player met in January 2020 during a concert at Kulturfabrik. The two were performing as part of an evening which featured the music of American drone band sunnO))), for which Moore had played on synthesizer, organ, electric piano and as a featured trombonist for 15 years. Grujović was opening the concert with her friend Steve Kaspar.

The three experimental artists then felt the urge to work together. Unfortunately, life and ultimately death, intervened with the onset of the global pandemic and the sudden passing of Steve Kaspar in October 2020. Grujović and Moore persevered, performing some of Kaspar’s final compositions in 2022, as well as their own original works inspired by traditional Balkan melodies, the music of Italian choral madrigal composer Carlo Gesualdo and the archaic primacy of drone.

Steve Moore (USA) is a pianist, trombonist, composer and author born in Seattle. He studied trombone with Julian Priester and composition at the Oberlin Conservatory before embarking on a solo career. Moore has released two solo albums, STEBMO (2008) and Super Drum (2012). In addition, he has published a volume on music, harmonic theory and geometry entitled Plato, Pythagoras, Polyrhythm in 2012. As an accompanist, he has performed with Sufjan Stevens, Neko Case, k.d. lang, Alexi Murdoch, First Aid Kit, Eyvind Kang and Bill Frisell. He has also been a member of the bands EARTH and sunnO))) since 2006.

Nataša Grujović (SRB - LU)

After finishing her musical studies with professor Hugo Noth, Nataša mainly performed with various ensembles in west and east Europe, e.g. at the Off-Festival during the Donaueschinger Musiktage, Łaźnia - Centre for Contemporary Art, the 55th Biennale di Venezia»- Pavillon Luxembourg and the RingRing Festival in Belgrade.

Since 2009 she is based in Luxembourg, where she further develops her approach to chamber music, oriented specifically towards a more experimental approach. In 2020, after the sudden death of her music partner Steve Kaspar, with whom she collaborated intensely for the last several years together, she continues to perform as a solo artist and as a duo with Steve Moore.
